what’s the best way to finance a vehicle with not so great credit?

4 Shades of Blue asked:

my husband and I have one running car now…his 13 year old suburban just gave up the ghost last night and we NEED to buy a second car pretty soon. our credit isn’t too great but it’s not terrible either. we own our own home and have never been late on payments and just refinanced 3 months ago. should we look for something new? we don’t have any $ to put down on a car….does anyone know how difficult it is to get into a new or used car without anything down and with not so perfect credit?

Do student loans show up when applying for mortgage loan?

Jo asked:

It doesn’t look like my student loans show up as part of my monthly debt when applying for a loan. I have been in forebearance, but do pay each month and am just recently able to start paying the full amount. Let me know. Please, no guesses – only if you know for sure. Thanks.

I hear horror stories about credit card debt. Should I really go into the credit card thing?

yage v asked:

I’m 26 and I have no credit history at all. I’m always needing to make a purchase online like air tickets or internet courses. Right now I am not able to get a loan for school, a home, finance a car, or even get a cell phone. Should I really get a protected card and work from there? If not, what can I do to establish even a wee bit of credit??!!!! I don’t want to go into debt! THANKS
