What are my chances of getting past the underwriters on my mortgage loan app?

tepd02 asked:

The loan officer seems pretty confident, but I don’t know if that matters. We were able to put 20% down, but our “ratios” of income to debt were borderline. I don’t know if the underwriting process is more of a formality, or if it’s their job, not the loan officer’s, to tell us to keep dreaming.

It suggests that almost everyone knows a family who has received food stamps, or will in the future, said lead author Mark Rank, a sociologist at Washington University in St. Louis. “Your neighbor may be using some of these programs but it’s not the kind of thing people want to talk about,” Rank said. The analysis was released Monday in the November issue of Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. The authors say it’s a medical issue pediatricians need to be aware of because children on food stamps are at risk for malnutrition and other ills linked with poverty. “This is a real danger sign that we as a society need to do a lot more to protect children,” Rank said. Food stamps are a Department of Agriculture program for low-income individuals and families, covering most foods although not prepared hot foods or alcohol. For a family of four to be eligible, their annual take-home pay can’t exceed about $22000. According to a USDA report released last month, 28.4 million Americans received food stamps in an average month in 2008, and about

ShortSalesBuyers asked:

How Securitized Mortgage Loans Affect Short Sale Negotiation… For so many Southern California homeowners who are upside down on their homes, they maybe forced to sell for less than what the house is worth (short-sale). This process called short sale negotiation can be very difficult to understand if you do not understand the secondary market of mortgage finance. Just keep in mind most mortgages are originated or made with intent to be pooled with other mortgages and sold to large institutional investors such as pension funds, hedge funds, banks, etc. etc. The mortgage pools are often referred to as Collateralized Debt Obligations or CDOs. for short.
